PORSCHE 911

Coupe 911 TARGA (1970)

Very collectible Car 1970

KEY FACTS

A superb ‘resto-mod’ example of the iconic open-top classic; presented in excellent overall condition and enhanced by a raft of cosmetic and performance upgrades, at a total build cost of €200,000. 1 of 4 Made this no 1
Under the engine lid is an air-cooled 3.2-litre flat-six, bored out to 3.5-litre capacity and producing around 300hp, coupled to a rebuilt 915 racing five-speed manual transmission.
This Porsche 911 E Targa is one of four uniquely restored special editions by ‘Betolaza Automoción’ in Granada, Spain, and was originally built in 2018 for a collector in the film industry.
It was kept in Spain for several years, before being imported into the UK and re-registered with the DVLA in April 2021. It is understood to have covered around 1,600km since the completion of the resto-mod project.
EQUIPMENT AND FEATURES

It is now equipped with a Carrera 3.2 engine that has been bored out to a 3.5-litre capacity, and is equipped with uprated valves and injectors, and a custom-made four-exit stainless-steel exhaust. It is understood to produce around 300hp.
The steel bodywork has been fully rebuilt, now featuring flared aluminium wheel arches and finished in an appealing white hue, with contrasting brown metallic side stripes and a polished ‘Targa’ roll-over bar.
Inside, the seats have been retrimmed in dark brown leather with brown and cream tartan cloth centre sections, and ‘001’ stitching on their headrests.
The car rides on set of 15-inch BRAID Serie 1RC split-rim alloy wheels with metallic brown centres and polished rims.
It also comes equipped with leather door pulls, electric windows, a Clarion sound system, and a wooden Moto-Lita steering wheel.
A unique plaque has been mounted on the dashboard to confirm the car’s Betolaza build authenticity.
CONDITION

The hand-made steel body has been comprehensively rebuilt and modified to its current wide body style, though it is not believed to have ever suffered from any damage.
Overall, the cream paintwork is in excellent shape, though the vendor has reported a few minor imperfections around the door edges and at the bottom of the wheel arches.
The nearside door requires some minor adjustment, while the front luggage lid would benefit from a pair of new gas struts.
There are no substantial marks or scuffs on the alloy wheels.
Inside, the re-trimmed tartan seats are immaculate, as is the leather-trimmed dashboard.
The original gauge lenses and trim rings show some light signs of wear, which is in keeping with the car’s age.
All of the electrics are in good working order, and there are no known mechanical faults.
SUMMARY

This Porsche 911 E Targa is a tasteful, bespoke resto-mod from the specialist engineers at ‘Betolaza Automoción’ in Granada, Spain. The first of only four examples built, this unique 911 would make a discerning addition to any collection of classic sports cars, and while it will no doubt turn heads at any show or event, it will be best enjoyed from behind the wheel on its next owner’s favouring country roads.
